23 members of the association arrived at various times and by different routes at the Salle des Fetes at Fouqueville on Saturday 17th September 2005. The weather was mostly fine and reasonably warm for the time of year. We did not know what the Challenge would be, but on arrival, we all took part in a game of petanque. No-one seemed sure of the overall result, but that seemed unimportant. The match was followed by a very convivial meal, buffet style, and with plenty of wine to accompany it.
We all thought dancing would follow - but we were wrong! The Challenge had not yet taken place and the petanque was simply a friendly game. The Challenge was actually an international quiz. There was an English team and a French team. A question was displayed on a screen in both English and French - it was the same question but obviously a different answer for each team. The quiz format was most enjoyable, with keen competition and some answers being disputed, although all played in a very friendly fashion.
The final outcome was, surprise, surprise, a draw and we were presented with the cup from last year. We were not sure how we qualified for the cup, but it seemed impolite to argue !!
The following morning was spent with hosts, but we all met once more at Fouquevilla for lunch before spending some time taking the inevitable group photos and then making our way to the ferry.
Another flying visit, enjoyed immensely by all.
