September 2004 Clanfield challenges Val d’Oison to petanque in England !!
This was the shortest ever French trip, with arrival in Clanfield around lunchtime on the Saturday and departure from Clanfield lunchtime on the Sunday.
The weather caused cancellation of the intended petanque match at Peel Park with heavy rain falling just as we were about to start. Luckily, the Memorial Hall had been hired “just in case”, and it was a hurried retreat to play a Beetle Drive. Needless to say, whilst we were “beetling” indoors, the sun came out !! The cream teas were enjoyed indoors.
Val d’Oison won the game, making the tally 5-4 in their favour. The cup was returned to France.
The evening barbeque ran smoothly.
