27th January 2001  - 1st Annual Dinner

The idea of holding an annual dinner for members of the association and their guests was first put forward by  Chairman Zig Malendewicz several months previously and was greeted by enthusiasm by most members.  The proof of the pudding came on January 27th when 41 members and guests gathered at L’Escargot in Southsea for a sumptuous meal in pleasant surroundings with convivial company.  Another nine members had reluctantly declined the evening due to prior engagements.
16th November 2002  - Annual Quiz

This year the quiz was combined with a supper and attracted almost 90 players.  The invitation was extended to the twinning Associations in Hayling Island and Horndean who each sent one or two teams.  The theme of the quiz was the Queen’s Golden Jubilee and included rounds on royalty, sport, films, nursery rhymes, TV sitcom signature tunes, battles and a music round associated with  kings and queens.  A hugely successful evening !
7th March 2003 - “Going to the Dogs”

Some may say that many of us have been going to the dogs for years !! But on March 7th, this was certainly the case.  It was a bitterly cold night and the evening could have got off to a better start if we had been lucky enough to have a coach driver who actually knew how to smile and also drive the coach quite near to the greyhound stadium !!!  However, eventually we all arrived inside and found a bar which was warm, so we tended to remain there, leaving it only for short periods of time so that we could place our bets in readiness for winning a fortune.  Unless there was someone who was keeping a large win very quiet, we don’t think any of us will be able to up sticks and buy a deserted south sea island !!  Oh well, perhaps the committee will arrange another visit and we will be lucky then !!  At least we all had a good time but we hoped our next visit would be on a much warmer night.
29th March 2003 - Annual Dinner

The Half Moon at Sheet proved to be an excellent venue for the Association’s Annual Dinner on March 29th.  It was attended by nearly 50 members and guests suitably attired in black and white.  The choice of food was delicious, the service quick and the magical element was provided by Dean Nicholas, a close up magician who amused and entertained everyone during the whole evening.
